Incident Information

Early Friday morning, a tragic accident involving a stolen vehicle and a semi-truck occurred on Detroit’s east side. The vehicle was reported stolen from Redford Township on March 5th and was apparently driving at a high rate of speed when it collided with the truck near Gunston and Wilfred. Unfortunately, both male occupants of the stolen vehicle lost their lives in the incident. However, the driver of the semi-truck was unharmed. Despite reports of a police chase, it does not seem that officers were pursuing the vehicle at the time. The incident happened close to the Detroit Police Department 9th Precinct building.

The Department is currently canvassing the area for any videos that can help shed light on the situation and provide much-needed context. It’s crucial that officers involved in the incident adhere to Department policy, so it’s crucial that officials thoroughly review and evaluate all available footage.
