Incident Information

Tragedy struck Detroit on Monday, May 15, when a 30-year-old woman was involved in a serious car accident on Southfield Freeway. According to state police, the woman was speeding when she struck the rear of a Jeep that was hauling a boat on a trailer. In a devastating turn of events, the impact was so severe that the driver was ejected from her vehicle onto the roadway. The Jeep driver lost control of the vehicle, which was then hit by a Subaru. The 30-year-old woman is currently in critical condition at a local hospital, while the Jeep driver thankfully escaped unscathed.

According to reports, a 50-year-old Oak Park man was arrested after troopers discovered he was driving under the influence. The situation became even more alarming when the man's speeding Subaru overturned, causing debris from a boat to scatter across the highway. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the Southfield Freeway was closed down while authorities conducted their investigation and removed the debris. While the case is still pending further review, Lt. Shaw hopes this serves as a reminder for drivers to make better decisions on the road.
