A tragic accident claimed the life of a Midland woman on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by the Midland County Sheriff’s Office. Karen Jo Hoerger, a 66-year-old woman, was attempting to make a turn at the intersection of South Poseyville Road and East Ashby Road in Midland Township when the unexpected occurred. As she turned north onto South Poseyville Road from East Ashby Road, danger loomed.

An 18-year-old male driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck failed to notice the red light and plowed into Hoerger’s Jeep Compass. Emergency teams swiftly arrived on the scene to provide medical support, but despite their best efforts, Hoerger’s injuries were too severe, and she was ultimately pronounced dead. The young driver and his 20-year-old passenger miraculously escaped the wreckage without a scratch. Investigations are ongoing, but the Midland County Sheriff’s Office has stated that there is currently no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in this heartrending event.
