Car Collides with SMART Bus North of Eight Mile Road Resulting in Death

Michigan State Police are currently investigating a tragic crash that occurred Tuesday night involving a car and a SMART bus. The incident took place on northbound M-39, north of Eight Mile Road, and may have been caused by a street race. Reports indicate that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed before slamming into the back of the bus. According to the bus driver, there were multiple cars racing down the freeway at the time of the accident. Sadly, the crash resulted in a fatality. The Southfield Fire Department arrived on scene quickly and, while they were able to extinguish the flames, they were unable to save the driver of the car. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the crash and hold any responsible parties accountable.
