Incident Information

Early morning of August 26th, a catastrophic car crash occurred on southbound I-75 and Clark Avenue. Reports of a white SUV heading in the wrong direction around 2:30 am on the highway circulated before calls came in about a severe accident. Upon arriving at the scene, troopers found that three vehicles were involved in the crash, including the white SUV. Unfortunately, the driver of a Kia lost their life as a result of the collision, while the driver of the white SUV and a Volkswagen both suffered severe injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.

Police are currently investigating why the driver was going the wrong way and are eagerly waiting for the results of medical examiner reports. The situation was compounded when another driver attempted to bypass a police car on the closed road and ended up colliding with it. Miraculously, no one was harmed in this unforeseen accident.

The Michigan State Police are tirelessly working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the accident on the freeway. F/Lt Mike Shaw has made it clear that the troopers and crash reconstructionists on the case are dedicated to determining the cause of the crash and the events leading up to it. Their investigation extends beyond the incident itself, as they are also looking into how the wrong-way driver gained access to the freeway and whether or not they were under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.

This terrible event serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the deadly consequences that can result from reckless behavior behind the wheel. We can only hope that they’ll be able to provide some closure for all of those involved.
