Incident Information

Early Saturday morning in Branch County's California Township, tragedy struck when a car collided with an Amish buggy. According to the Michigan State Police, the driver of the car didn't see the buggy before the collision and didn't realize what he had hit at first. The crash resulted in severe injuries for two individuals, who were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center for treatment. While one adult male suffered a broken leg, an adult female was flown to the hospital by Samaritan Helicopter for head and back injuries. The other three individuals involved in the incident suffered minor injuries and were taken to Cameron Memorial Community Hospital.

The Michigan State Police have launched a preliminary investigation into the crash and have discovered that the driver of the passenger car was headed west on Southern Road when he struck the buggy traveling in the same direction. Shockingly, the driver claims that he did not see the buggy before the collision took place. While the driver of the passenger car remains unharmed due to the use of a seatbelt, the crash's severity has led to an ongoing inquiry and investigation into whether alcohol played a role in the accident.
