Tragedy struck Friday night when a 28-year-old woman was killed in a car-pedestrian crash on Telegraph Road near Kimberly Estates in Frenchtown Township, north of Monroe. According to the Michigan State Police, the Newport woman was walking across Telegraph Road when she was hit by a car driving southbound. Despite lifesaving measures being administered upon their arrival to the scene, medical personnel ultimately pronounced her dead. Fortunately, neither of the two occupants of the vehicle were injured. At this time, preliminary investigations suggest that neither speed nor alcohol played a role in the fatal crash. This incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police.
