Incident Information

Tragedy struck on the day before Father's Day when an 8-year-old boy was hit and killed by a 19-year-old driver. The boy's father was there to witness the heartbreaking event and quickly rushed his son to the hospital, but it was too late. The driver responsible for this tragedy was arrested on charges of driving without a license.

As a neighborhood witness, Brandon Franklin says he sees many drivers speed on the streets where he lives. He worries about the safety of his children and others who may be walking or playing outside. The recent accident involving the young female driver has left many questioning if speed was a factor, but police have yet to confirm. Regardless, Franklin believes speeding is a common occurrence in the community and takes measures to protect his family. He restricts his children to staying on the sidewalk and urges drivers to consider the safety of those around them.

Another neighbor Sornora Stovall expressed that the sight was truly heartbreaking. Stovall recounts the moment she heard a thud and rushed to her front door, only to find the child lying in the street. She said that she immediately called 911.

"The kids are our future, and to see that baby lose his life. It was sad. It was really sad I was speechless," she exclaimed.

This sorrowful incident has left both neighbors, Franklin and Stovall, thinking about the boy's family and the driver. Franklin's heart goes out to the family and he prays for them to find comfort during this difficult time. He also empathizes with the young girl involved in the accident and hopes that she will receive the support she needs to heal from the trauma. On the other hand, Stovall sees an opportunity to make a positive change in the community by suggesting the idea of a park across the street. This would provide a safe space for children to play and bring the community closer together. As both neighbors reflect on the situation, it is evident that their concern extends beyond this one incident and they are committed to making a difference for the good of all.
