An early morning drive on August 5th turned tragic for a Clinton Township driver who failed to judge the sharp curve on an I-96 ramp in Detroit. The driver’s vehicle crashed into the concrete wall, leaving him with serious injuries. Around 5:15 a.m, The Michigan State Police came across the accident site. It appeared that the driver couldn’t slow down in time, resulting in the mishap.

The victim, who has been identified as a 25-year-old man from Clinton Township by MSP, was found alive but severely injured and trapped under the dashboard on the passenger side. Emergency responders from the Detroit Fire Department had to work tirelessly to free the man from the wreckage before swiftly transporting him to a nearby hospital.

The victim was traveling at an alarming speed on I-96 before merging onto northbound I-75. The driver’s inability to slow down for a curve eventually caused the vehicle to collide with the ramp wall and ultimately crash into a median light pole.

According to state police, the driver also appeared to have not been wearing a seatbelt at the time and the cause of the crash is still unknown, leaving unanswered questions as to whether alcohol or drugs played a factor. Authorities are still investigating this unfortunate event to find more clarity about the circumstances of the accident.
