In a tragic turn of events, a young teenage girl lost her life in a fatal car crash in Ionia County. Reports state that the devastating accident took place at the intersection of Jackson and W. Goodemoot road. The incident happened in the afternoon, around 4:11 p.m., and deputies from the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office immediately responded to the scene. The Saranac Fire, Clarksville Fire, Life EMS, Reed & Hoppes, and Ionia County Road Department also came together to help the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office in their efforts.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the young girl was turning onto Jackson Road when she failed to notice the oncoming truck, resulting in the deadly collision. Sadly, the young girl lost her life at the scene. The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office later revealed that she was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. The tow truck driver emerged from the incident unharmed.
