Incident Information

A peaceful morning in Grand Haven abruptly turned into a chaotic scene around 6:25am when a motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Robbins Road and Mercury Drive. The accident involved a young man from the community who was riding his 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The investigation determined that the 23-year-old man was traveling eastbound on his motorcycle when he veered across the centerline and collided with a westbound vehicle sideswiping it. Unfortunately, the accident resulted in injuries to the motorcyclist. As the investigation unfolded, it was discovered that the car traveling westbound was a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu. Law enforcement officials rushed to the scene to investigate the accident and provide assistance.

Reports show that the motorcycle traveled about 150 yards before the rider finally lost control and fell off. Fortunately, the rider received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for proper care. Meanwhile, the car’s driver, a 39 year old man and a 15 year old passenger who was also in the vehicle, were unharmed thanks to their seat belts.

Although the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is still unfolding the investigation, we are glad to know that no one was severely harmed at this time. This is a stark reminder of the importance of staying attentive when on the road, crucially emphasizing seatbelt safety and always being aware of the potential dangers that can occur at any time.
