A tragic incident occurred in Macomb County on July 3, Monday night as a 47-year-old man lost his life in a pedestrian accident. According to reports, the man was attempting to cross Jefferson Avenue when he was struck by a Ford van driven by an 84-year-old man. Deputies were quickly dispatched to the scene, finding the man lying on the ground in a driveway, with concerned citizens already rendering aid. The statement reveals the driver of the van was cooperating with the investigation. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the victim was later pronounced dead. 

Authorities believe that alcohol played a role in the accident. After administering field sobriety tests, law enforcement officers collected a blood sample from the suspected driver. Additionally, investigators have interviewed several witnesses in the hopes of piecing together the events leading up to the fatal crash. The driver was taken into custody for operating while impaired and causing the tragic death. However, he was later released pending the completion of the investigation. Although the road was closed for a period of time during this incident, it has since reopened. Further details about the incident have not yet been released.
