A tragic incident occurred on Thursday afternoon as a 16-year-old from Morenci was riding his dirt bike and was struck by a car. The collision took place on Lime Creek Highway, where a 19-year-old woman was driving her Ford Fusion southbound. As the young teen entered the roadway on his dirt bike, he was hit by the car and suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the car remained unharmed, and no other vehicles were involved. Michigan State Police have confirmed that alcohol or speed do not appear to have been factors in the crash, but the incident is still under investigation. Our hearts go out to the family of the young boy who was taken far too soon.
