Tragedy struck on Sunday, May 7, when a Lee Township man lost his life in a devastating crash. Nathan Alaska Threet, aged 38, was involved in a collision between a motorcycle and a truck on E. Saginaw Road, with the incident occurring at 1:17 a.m. near Old Oak Trail in Lincoln Township. According to the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, Threet was riding a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle without any headlights or running lights on when he collided with a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 52-year-old Sanford man who was turning from eastbound E. Saginaw Road onto Old Oak Trail.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and Threet was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries from the crash. The sheriff’s office suspects that alcohol and/or speed may have contributed to the accident but toxicology results are still pending. A final report will soon be sent to the Midland County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
