Incident Information

Tragedy struck Oak Park when a fatal multi-vehicle crash occurred early Saturday morning at Rochester Road and Predmore Road in Oakland Township. The collision involved a 2015 Dodge Journey driven by 29-year-old Joy Turnbore and a 2022 Hino box truck heading northbound on Rochester Road. Though it’s not yet known if Turnbore stopped at the stop sign on Predmore Road, the crash left her pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, a 34-year-old from Saint Clair Shores, and a passenger from Center Line both survived, with the latter only needing treatment for minor injuries.

This devastating incident is a reminder for all of us to be extra cautious on the roads and follow traffic signals and signs diligently. According to police, all individuals involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts and alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Despite these findings, the cause of the crash is still unknown and under investigation by the sheriff’s office’s crash reconstruction unit.
