Michigan State Police are conducting a thorough investigation on the devastating car crash that occurred on I-696, resulting in one life lost. On the night of February 18th, at 11:40 PM, a 2017 Volkswagen and 2019 Chevrolet Malibu collided near Halsted Road in Farmington Hills. Upon impact, the Malibu veered off course and hit a tree head-on, consequently triggering a fire that trapped its driver inside the burning vehicle. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity remains unknown to this day. The other car’s occupants were uninjured as they managed to pull over on the left side of the road shortly after impact. It is crucial that Michigan State Police find out what happened so family and friends can gain closure from this unfortunate incident.
